Agatha Shadewell is a sixty-five-year-old con artist with a modern-day Robin Hood criminal code and a complicated relationship with now retired FBI agent Martin Kobbs. She is fresh out of prison and determined to stay out of trouble at all costs, but when the police accuse a highly unlike person of murder, Agatha ends up teaming up with a highly unlike group of people to find the real killer.

The Unlikely Murder Club is a funny and cozy mystery about second chances, new beginnings, forgiveness and redemption. Told in dual timelines, the story alternates between Agatha’s current situation in Unlikely, and chapters detailing Agatha’s past, showing how she became a con artists, and how she ended up in prison.

In the recent sea of elder sleuth mysteries, Agatha stands out for being a criminal straight out of prison. She may be in her sixties and officially retired from her life of crime, but she still has all the instincts of a career criminal. Instincts one would think would be rather useless in a tiny town with the, well, rather unlike name of Unlikely, but as it turns out, Unlikely isn’t exactly an ordinary town. It may in fact be exactly what Agatha needs, and she may very well be needed in the town as well.
