Murder in Bologna by T. A. Williams

My son, Luca, was found dead in his room two weeks ago, and the police believe he took his own life.

Ad/PR/Patrocinado. Publication day review of Murder in Bologna by T. A. Williams. Many thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this ARC.

Dan Armstrong is a former British inspector who now lives in Italy and works as a private investigator. When a young man studying at Bologna’s Art Institute is found dead, the investigating police are quick to assume suicide, but the young man’s father disagrees with the verdict and asks Dan to investigate.

Murder in Bologna is book 17 in the Armstrong and Oscar Cozy Mysteries series, but can easily be read as a standalone. It is a charming cozy mystery filled with mouthwatering descriptions of delicious foods and drinks, fun antics from Dan’s adorable labrador Oscar, who has a nose for clues and is very useful for breaking the ice when Dan wants to talk to potential witnesses, and very atmospheric and fun little facts and tidbits about arts, culture, history and daily life in Italy.

I really enjoyed this novel. The writing, the characters and the mystery itself are all great and exactly what I want from a cozy mystery. The writing is very descriptive and really paints a picture of Bologna as a beautiful and historic city, the characters are very engaging and sympathetic, and the mystery is interesting and well-paced with a satisfying solution.

I highly recommend this to any cozy mystery readers looking for mysteries filled with food and drinks, pets, history and culture and who enjoy stories with sympathetic sleuths with happy personal lives working in harmony with the police and local authorities.
