Book 1 in the Viking P.I. series and my pick for U in the A-Z Cozy Mystery Challenge.
A Norwegian short story collection about an amateur P.I. with his heart in the right place, a bit of a shopping addiction and very few actual investigative skills.
Tommy is a crime writer who gets the bright idea of supplementing his income with investigative work. Placing an ad in Norway’s equivalent of Craigslist, he is called upon to investigate six different cases, making up the six short stories in the collection. Unfortunately for Tommy, he has no experience as an actual P.I. and his writing experience doesn’t easily translate to solving cases of kidnapping, domestic problems, or stalking.
Fun, lighthearted and fast-paced, this 53-page collection is perfect for a coffee break or commute, or for any time you want to lighten your mood with an entertaining and easygoing read. Tommy bumbles and fumbles his way through his cases, with more enthusiasm than skill, and you can’t help but end up liking him with his self-deprecating sense of humour and genuine desire to help those who need it.
