I saw this online and thought it could be fun to do my own version. Imagine what a book about your life would be like, and write the blurb for that book. I decided to take it a step further and add book covers as well as blurbs, so here are five completely made-up books in five different genres. I’ve never actually been an elf or a true crime podcaster, but if I were, I like to think that this would be my story.

If my life were a thriller, this would be it:
Access Denied: In a future where everything is run by AI and resistance equals deletion from the system, a woman randomly stumbles upon a secret that will change her life forever. Now she’s on the run from both the police and a sinister organisation with seemingly endless resources, and forced to work with the one man she’s been trying to avoid; her ex, who left her to go work for big tech years ago.
If my life were a romantasy this would be it:
When Elves Collide: Everyone knows that you can’t trust dark elves. But when Jana the wood elf is saved by the handsome but arrogant dark elf Xanlot the Slayer, she is determined to pay back her debt, so she takes it upon herself to follow him around, waiting for her chance to save him back. The only problem is that Jana has no combat skills, no magic, no sense of direction and absolutely no filter when it comes to speaking before she thinks. How can she possibly save Xanlot, and how exactly did he get his nickname, the Slayer?

If my life were a cozy mystery, this would be it:
Framed in the Past: Anja is used to big city life. Keeping herself to herself, she goes through the motions day after day. But when her elderly neighbour Clara falls and breaks her hip, Anja steps in and offers to help. What begins as a few chores turns into an unexpected friendship and soon Anja finds herself an honorary member of Clara’s feisty septuagenarian knitting circle, who meet every week for tea and trips down memory lane, pouring over old photo albums. But one day they find a photo that shouldn’t exist, and before long Anja and her new friends find themselves caught up in a decades old disappearance and a possible murder case that was never solved.
If my life were a horror, this would be it:
13 Blackstone Lane: Some houses are more than just bricks and wood. The house on 13 Blackstone Lane is known as the murder house, and not even the rowdiest of teens dare enter the premises of this abandoned villa. True crime podcaster Jaan knows this but still decides to boost their podcast’s dwindling popularity by spending a night livestreaming from inside Blackstone Lane. But as the stream goes on and the view count rises, it becomes clear that something very unnatural is going on. Will Jaan live to tell the tale, or will the murder house on Blackstone Lane claim yet another victim?
