“Well, there you have it.” I flicked the board with my pencil. “Five suspects and one victim.”
Book 1 in the Sea Glass Beach Mysteries series. Paige Andrews is enjoying life with her friends and family in the picturesque beach town, Sea Glass Beach, but when a notorious local cooking celebrity is found dead and Paige’s friend Abby Tran becomes a suspect, Paige throws herself headfirst into investigating, all while trying to deal with her remote work as a hat and headwear designer, her newly adopted dog and a very attractive single dad vet.
If you gravitated towards this book because it has the word “brownies” in the title, you are in for a treat. Or rather, a lot of treats, as this novel is absolutely packed with mouthwatering descriptions of food all throughout the story. If Paige isn’t baking something scrumptious herself, she is out and about, enjoying delicacies from the local cafes, food trucks or her friends’ cooking.
If you love food, cozy mysteries with recipes included, animals, nature, crime boards and sleuths inspired by fictional detectives, and despise phoney influencers with big egos and fake facades, this is one for you. It is cozy and lighthearted, with a hint of romance and heaping doses of found family, wholesome living, community, creativity and friendship.
If I could go live in Sea Glass Beach, I would move in the blink of an eye. Sure, there’s murder and the unfairness of unpleasant characters getting riches and fame served to them on a silver platter while nice, decent, hardworking people are passed over, but the foods, the nature, the animals and the general cozy atmosphere more than make up for the downsides, and I know I would love to hang out with Paige and her friends (and their food).
Cozy mystery
