I didn’t typically force my way through locked doors, and certainly not those belonging to clients. Today, however, was an exception.
Book 1 in the Hadley Home Design Cozy Mysteries series. Darlington Hills, Virginia, is interior designer Hadley Sutton’s idea of paradise on earth. Eager to escape New Orleans and her ex-boyfriend, Hadley is in Darlington Hills for a job interview, but ends up becoming entangled in a murder case involving a new client and his fiancée, Hadley’s new friend Erin, the owner of the Whisk and Whiskers cat café, and the young, dimpled Officer Appley who almost makes Hadley forget that she has sworn off dating.
A new start, small-town, cozy mystery featuring an interior designer amateur sleuth who has a knack for making new friends and a very developed sense of responsibility even when it comes to people she doesn’t know. You can’t help but root for Hadley as she tries to juggle her job as an interior designer for a client and his fiancée who have completely different ideas of what they want, with her self-imposed new role as a sleuth, while constantly being disturbed by people unfairly blaming and suspecting her for things she had nothing to do with.
If you want highly realistic stories, this one isn’t for you. But if you enjoy cozy mysteries with amateur sleuths happily putting on their detective hats even if they have no special skills or prerequisites for solving murders, you might want to check out this one. It involves a cute dog for the dog lovers, a cat café for the cat fans and an absolutely amazing sounding recipe for Paw-some Brownie Raspberry Cheesecake.
