Karen’s New Year by Anne Brooke, narrated by Cindy Palmer

Karen isn’t looking for love. But love, it seems, is looking for her. Karen’s New Year is a cute short story about a woman who suddenly finds herself right in the middle of a potential romance when she least expects it. The narration is calm and gentle, much like the story itself, and I really enjoyed listening to this one, letting the story of this one, memorable weekend in Karen’s life play out in my ears.

With around 28 minutes of playtime, this one is perfect for a quick workout session, lunchbreak listen, commute or background entertainment while getting some chores done. It is a sweet, reflective story, focusing on Karen’s thoughts and feelings as she goes from her usual steady but boring routine to an exciting and very close encounter she never anticipated.

Many thanks to Anne Brooke for the review copy of this audiobook. I really enjoyed both the story and the narration, and I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys light-hearted romance, mature female main characters, tender self-reflection and “love finds a way” stories.
