Corpses in Colombo by Nadishka Aloysius

Book 4 in the A Sri Lankan Mystery series.

Kiyama Fernando and Vinodhini Dias are invited to a high society Christmas party in Colombo. For Kiyama, it is a chance to forget about her ex-husband, for Vino it is a chance to reconnect with her estranged brother and his family. But when the Christmas party ends in the discovery of a dead body, Kiyama and Vino team up with Joshua Cramer, Detective Inspector in Leeds and a friend of the deceased.

A Christmas-themed cozy mystery set in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Fun and light-hearted, with an interesting setting and a sympathetic cast of main characters. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a mystery set in Sri Lanka, and though I love a good British village setting, I appreciated the chance to read something set in a completely different part of the world. The murder mystery is interesting, and the dynamics between Kiyama and Vino as best friend amateur sleuths are warm and endearing, with the occasional banter to liven up the mood.

Fitting for a Christmas read, love and family are important themes in the book, and the story is nicely wrapped up at the end with an interesting potential promise of more good things to come for Kiyama in future installments of the series. This is the first story by Nadishka Aloysius I have read, but it will not be the last, as I really enjoyed this and definitely want to read the first three books in the A Sri Lankan Mystery series as well.
