One Day in Public by Lena Hale

A fun, introspective novella detailing the thoughts, feelings and fears of an introvert who not only has to go to an office party but, even worse, has to give a speech at said function. As an introvert myself, I feel seen and validated by the thought that there are other people out there who are just as socially awkward, self-sabotaging and overthinking as me.

Fun and extremely relatable, with a subtle message of self-acceptance, this novella is a chance for all us introverts to remind ourselves that we are not alone, at least not emotionally, even if we are physically by ourselves as we read this, because we are hiding from the world as we have to recover from having to socialise for two minutes at the grocery store checkout.

A quick, 88 page read with lots of fun thoughts and realisations, and a gentle reminder that we don’t have to be perfect to live, and that even the longest party ends at some time so we can go home and relax.
