Wine and Punishment by Sarah Fox

Sadie Coleman has moved to the small town of Shady Creek with her cat Wimsey and opened the Inkwell, a literary themed pub in the town’s old grist mill. Leaving her old life in Boston behind, Sadie is busy preparing for the annual Autumn Festival when a part of her old life, her ex boyfriend Eric, shows up on the Inkwell’s doorstep. Seemingly determined to win her back, Eric is trying to get a job in Shady Creek, but before Sadie can talk to him, Eric is killed and Sadie and Grayson Blake, the extremely handsome but infuriating Shady Creek brewery owner, end up finding Eric’s body.

Was Eric killed by a local, or did someone follow him from Boston to settle a score? Sadie is determined to find out, but the more she investigates, the more danger she finds herself in. Arson, theft and sabotage follows as Sadie begins digging into Eric’s death, and somewhere in the peaceful town of Shady Creek a killer is waiting and watching.

A fall themed cozy mystery with lots of literary references. Sadie hosts book club meetings at the Inkwell, names her cocktail creations after famous books and fictional characters, and instantly turns amateur sleuth after finding Eric’s body, just as one would expect from a cozy mystery character who grew up reading Nancy Drew and admires Agatha Christie.
