Boston, Massachusetts Bay Colony in the 17th century, a place in the grips of a Puritan wave of violence and punishment as suspected sinners, witches and blasphemers were tortured and killed in the name of righteous persecution.
Boston, present day. Detective Martina “Marti” Zucco is following in her late father’s footsteps, working on the force. When a member of the infamous M13 gang is killed and his body morbidly displayed in the Boston Common public park, the initial suspicion is of a gang killing. But Marti isn’t convinced, and when a second body with no known ties to gangs is found soon after, Marti begins to suspect that something else entirely is behind the deaths.
A suspenseful thriller featuring a main character who must battle her own inner demons as well as unravel the secret behind the identity of a crazed serial killer. But the closer Marti gets to the truth, the more danger she puts herself, and her partner detective Neil Cavanaugh, into. Dark and gritty, this story should appeal to readers who like contemporary police procedurals and/or psychological thrillers with gruesome murders and a deadly cat and mouse chase between a detective and a murderer.
