Summer of 1953. Elizabeth’s mother Olivia is a retired Broadway and Hollywood dancer. When her third husband emptied her bank accounts, she was left with nothing but the Haggerman’s Catskills Resort and called Elizabeth to help her run the place. And by “help” she means do pretty much everything, while Olivia charms the guests and enjoys a glamorous life of retirement. But Elizabeth is not one to back down from a challenge, not even when a guest is found murdered on the resort and the chief of police insists that the man was a communist and spy.

With the aid of her good friends Velvet and Randy, Elizabeth begins her own investigation into the matter. But it isn’t easy solving a murder, especially not when she also has to run a resort, protect her mom from unwanted admirers and fend off underhanded tactics from rivalling resorts. Elizabeth is in for one busy summer filled with celery sticks stuffed with Cheez Whiz, Pink Squirrel cocktails, polka dots, guests with marital issues, competing resort owners and a murder mystery in cabin nineteen.
